Pre-ordered a Canon EOS 70D

Hey everyone,

I would just like to inform you guys that I pre-ordered the new Canon 70D a few days ago. It won't be out yet for another couple of days or weeks till I have it. Why is there so much confusion on the internet on the exact release date?

I would post a picture of the camera, but I can't find any stock images of it.

So here are some links to the Dutch and American canon sites:
Canon.nl

I am so excited!

Do you have a DSLR? Which one?

How to clean your makeup brushes

Hey everyone,

Today I will show you how to clean your makeup brushes. It is very important to clean them regularly, otherwise they will get dirty and not cleaning it will ultimately decrease the lifespan of the brushes.
To clean them I use two different products: brush soap and baby shampoo. I use the brush soap after each use and the baby shampoo once a week to thoroughly clean them. Step-by-step instructions after the jump.

My first heels

Hey everyone,

I was nozing around in my closet and I thought: Why not show you guys my first heels I ever bought?
I saw these in Houston a long time ago and I fell in love with them. Aren't they cute?

White and pink peeptoes

When I first wore them I felt like I was going to fall forwards. I thought that they were so high. Now, of course, I have higher ones where I don't think that I am going to fall and land on my face. :D

Anyways as you can see they are of white and pink, medium height, have a small plateau, and have an adorable buckle detail. I like to pair them with this one pink dress that I have or if I want to stand out I would pair it with a cute top and jeans.

White and pink buckle heels

I know they are a little dirty, but its proof that I wore them a lot. ;) But I do have to say, for shoes that are a couple of years old, they look great.

What did your first pair of heels look like?

My make-up brushes

Hey everyone,
About a year ago I bought my first make-up brushes and, since I was pretty clueless on what to buy, I decided to get a set so that I would have a good base to figure out what I really need before I go for the full size ones later. Buying it as a set also meant that I didn't need to spend that much money since the price per brush is less. I ended up getting the Les Minis de Chanel.

Chanel Précision Soleil Identité

Hey everyone,

Since it is summertime I thought that I would try a self tanner for the first time. I originally wanted one for the face and body, but I ended up with one just for the face. Since Chanel is the only brand till now that has not given me any breakouts I naturally went for the Chanel self tanner for the face, the Chanel Soleil Identité from the Précision line.

Before I applied it I exfoliated my face and put on moisturizer. When using it I realized that it was colorless on my skin, which I didn't like because then I couldn't see where I have or havent applied it. I love the smell: Cookie Dough!!!! Eitherways, the product absorbed really quickly and I went to sleep.
When I looked into the mirror the next morning I was shocked because my face looked way darker than the rest of my body. Thankfully, after I took a shower and cleansed my face, it looked great. The final result was a streak free, even, more tan face which wasn't unnatural looking at all. I really love it and since then I have been using it every three days to keep the color from fading. You could also use it daily until the desired color is met.

Since you won't use it daily (unless you want to achieve a darker tan) the tube would last for at least the whole summer. So it is money well spent and I will definately repurchase once it runs out!

Rosebud Perfume Co. Smith's Menthol & Eucalyptus Balm

Hey everyone,

A while ago I was at the beauty store and the sales assistant recommended the Rosebud Salve Menthol & Eucalyptus Balm. This was the second time that someone has recommended it to me, so I thought why not? I am not usually a menthol nor eucalyptus fan so I was quite sceptical.

The balm comes in a medium sized tin, so it will last a long time if you mainly use it as a like balm.

Immediately after using as a lip balm I felt the cooling effects. This gave it a nice refreshing effect. The moisturizing properties are really good and therefore I use it every night before I go to sleep. So when I wake up they are nice and soft. The scent is also very subtle, so if you don't like the smell of menthol or eucalyptus like me then don't worry.

Until now I have mainly only used it as a lipbalm, with one exception. I let my brother use it once when he suffered a burn on his finger while taking something out of the oven. The balm gave him a nice cooling effect, which he really liked. This product can be used in many different ways. As a lip balm or to relieve the burning sensation or as a way to "tame" your eyebrows, to soothe and soften feet, heels and elbows, a product to be massaged into stiff and sore areas, or to be rubbed into the forehead to relax the mind.

What I don't really like about this product is that you have to dip your finger into the product. A stick applicator would have solved this.

Chanel Gommage Microperle Eclat

Hey everyone,

Whenever I decide to take a bath I like to pamper myself. This means lots of bubbles, a book, scrub, and a face mask. Today I will write about the product I use to scrub my skin: Chanel Gommage Microperle Eclat.

When I first looked at the product I thought that it wouldn't work well as an exfoliator due to the fact that I didn't see many "pearly bits". But as I was using it I could definitely feel that it was scrubbing my skin. I really liked the smell of it (can't really describe it) and it wasn't like an overpowering scent as this annoys me. After washing it off my skin was baby soft (I am addicted to touching it afterwards XD) and glowing. It was visibly cleaner and there was no irritation.

The packaging is nice and simple, as always with Chanel. Its a cute pink tube with a black lid.

The only negative thing I can think of is the price, but then again you really shouldn't exfoliate so much and you only need a small amount per use so it will last for months.

I think that with all the good experiences I have had with the Chanel Gommage Microperle Eclat after around four months of use (and still not even halfway through the product) I will definitely repurchase once I run out.

Chanel Vitalumière Aqua

Hey everyone,

Today I will review the first liquid foundation that has met my expectations: Chanel's Vitalumière Aqua. I bought it after I just had to find a replacement for the Diorskin Nude liquid foundation, which just didn't cut it for me (way too cakey). Since then I have been using it regularly and I love this product so much! It makes my skin look flawless. It is water based so it won't make your face look oily and what I like about it so much is that it lets your skin breathe. The product is best used for people with clear or almost clear skin as I don't think it will hide lots of acne or scars. But then you can always use a concealer.

This foundation creates a dewy look. But if you prefer a matte look then just use a loose powder, such as the Chanel one like me.
What I also like about the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua is that it comes in a wide variety of colors. I myself have a really light skin with a pink undertone, which can be annoying because most foundations are too yellow for me. Thankfully Chanel had the perfect color for me the nr. 12 Beige Rosé. :)
The product has a SPF of 15, which is good, but I use a SPF 50 sunblock anyway on my face so SPF in a foundation isn't really a must-have for me.

The packaging is quite nice and as you can see the bottle is somewhat similar to the Chanel UV Essentiel sunblock.

The bottle is quite small, only 30 ml, but it is very blendable so you only need a small amount every time and it lasts pretty much all day for me. No touchups :)

In conclusion, I am very happy with this product, definately worth the money, and I will definately repurchase. :)

Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream

Hey everyone,

Today I will review the famous Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream. Due to the high price and popularity I had very high expectations. After using this for several months of using it day and night I feel like I can share with you my thoughts on this product.

The packaging is really nice, but the size of the box can be misleading. I thought that I would have a much larger pot inside so be sure to check the amount of oz/ml is in there. The pot is made of a porcelain like material and is quite heavy, which adds to the appeal of the product.

The application is somewhat different than what I am used to. Here you have to use the spatula to get the cream out of the pot and then you have to warm the product with your fingers. In the instructions it says that you must not rub it on your face, only pat it. This is more time consuming than usual, but that isn't a problem for me.
After application I noticed that it is much more greasy than my previous Chanel moisturizer and it takes much longer to get absorbed by my skin. After a few minutes most of the greasiness is gone and I continue with the rest of my skincare routine. It does a great job of moisturizing my skin for the rest of the day without the need of using blotting papers.

Even though I really like this product, I don't think I will repurchase due to the high price and the fact that I have to wait for it to get absorbed. I will just stick to my Chanel Hydra Beauty Cream, which performs how I want it to.

Moroccanoil Treatment

Hey everyone,

After a few months of being inactive I will review the Moroccanoil Treatment.

I have been using this product for a month now after I wash my hair and I am very excited to share my thoughts with you guys. I have the small 25ml bottle, which I think will last for a couple of months because you only need a small amount every time.
At first I wasn't too sure because I have naturally oily hair and I was scared that the oil in this product would only make it worse. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised. My hair was immediately softer, shinier, and not greasy at all. :) It also smells wonderful.
I'm not sure if its just me, but I feel that my hair dries much faster if I use it, which is great because I don't like blow drying my hair.
What I don't like is that the small bottle does not come with a dropper or pump; you just pour it out. This leads to product wastage as too much flows out if you are not careful.

Even though the Moroccanoil Treatment is pricey I will purchase the larger bottle (with pump) once mine runs out.

Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush

Hey everyone,

I'm really excited about the Chanel Joues Contraste. It applies well and I love the color Frivole. Its a tad orange, a color that I normally wouldn't go for, but this color looked so cute on me when the SA applied it on me. I fell in love with it and bought it. Since that day I haven't regretted it one bit; easy application, well pigmented, and it lasts long. It came in a nice box with the usual Chanel pouch that protects it from scratches.
I will definately repurchase this when I run out.

I rate it a 5/5

Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre

Hey everyone,

This is my favorite powder ever. It gives such a nice soft matte finish. It comes in a big tub, sadly it has no mirror, with a applicator inside. Usually I would use a brush for a powder, but the applicator does a great job in my opinion so I just use that. Initially I did not know how to use it. You just take the applicator out, close the lid, shake a little (two shakes were enough for me), open, and voila there is the powder.
One small warming though, some of it may fall on your clothes so watch out.
I read some complaints online stating that it doesn't last long on your face, but I had no issues.

I give it a full score of 5/5 :)

Dior Diorskin Nude Compact Gelée Effet Peau Nue

Hey everyone,

I bought the Diorskin Nude Compact to replace my Chanel compact foundation, which was sadly too yellow for me but otherwise a great product. I have to say that this foundation is the perfect color for my skin (010). What I also love is that it has an SPF of 20 with a PA +++ rating. The sun is becoming brighter again here in the Netherlands, so now is the time to start protecting your skin again.
Anyways back to the product. It comes in a nice dark blue and silver box with a soft cover. The foundation is in a clamshell casing that looks really nice. Its so shiny :)
But sadly the foundation itself isn't very exceptional. It glides on nicely but it leaves an oily fealing so powder is a must afterwards. I dont find that too much of an issue because I will use the powder anyway.
The coverage is ok, not too great.

As you can see I proved my point about the nice casing, but it is a tad annoying that you got to constanly tilt the plastic lid where the sponge applicator sits on. The sponge applicator itself is pretty interesting. One side is fuzzy, which can be used to leave your face with a silky finish, while the other side is just like a sponge, which is great for more coverage. Out of both sides, the soft side is much easier to clean compared to the sponge side.

I rate this product a 4.5/5

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB

Hey everyone,

Today I will talk about the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream. Basically it does its job if you think of it as a tinted moisturizer. It was the first BB cream that I have tried that truly matches my skin color. All the other ones were too orange (but thats probably because I got the wrong color). It leaves a nice dewy finish without looking too oily or shiny. Till now I have only used it every now and then, but I will use it more soon as my facial sunblock is almost out and this BB cream has an SPF of 30. The product itself is quite watery though, which makes it harder to apply. The coverage is moderate. It hides redness but my dark circles are still quite visible.

Overall this is a great product if you need moderate coverage, but its not moisturizing enough for my skin so I still wear a moisturizer under it.

I'll give the product a 4/5.

Gucci Haul

Hey everyone,
Recently I ordered two products from the Gucci site: an iPad sleeve that was on sale and the web-exclusive Joy Boston bag in antique rose. As always, the arrived within a few days. Love the delivery time!
The reason why I chose these products was because I thought that the smart cover for my iPad 4 wasn't sufficient as the only protection as the back could just scratch and because the material of both these products are easily cleaned and are more water resistant than the other materials.
I love both these products; high quality, stylish, and long lasting.
Now I will look out for a nice keychain or something similar to attach to the D ring on the side. I was thinking  maybe something silver and shiny or some kind of tassle that compliments the color and bag.

Here is a picture of the iPad sleeve.

Isn't it super cute? I read some complaints online because some people thought that the fact that it closes with velcro was tacky, but I don't think so. If it were to close with magnets or something else, the iPad may get damaged because 1. magnets and electronics don't get along 2. metal components are hard and may scratch the iPad.

And finally, the Boston bag.

This is the side with the D ring. I really like this bag and I think I will use it often as it is HUGE. Everything I need and more easily fits inside, it's perfect.

Almost run out of Chanel UV essentiel

Hey everyone,
I have very little Chanel UV Essentiel SPF 50 PA+++. Probably less than a few weeks. So I went to the makeup store here in Eindhoven to buy a new one, but they told me that Chanel has discontinued the product. This really disappointed me because I really love the product. I hope that Chanel is releasing an improvement or something because it had such good reviews.
In the meantime I'll have to find a substitute. Right now it will most likely be the La Mer SPF 30 UV protecting fluid. I find the SPF pretty low and I heard that it prevents your face from tanning, but the reviews that I have read are quite good. So I hope that it'll be a good temporary sunscreen. Fingers crossed!

Poudre Signée de Chanel

Hey everyone!
Sorry that I have taken FOREVER to write another post.
But here is a post!
Today I will review the limited edition Chanel highlighter from the Collection Printemps Précieux de Chanel.
I have to say that the design on it is so beautiful and as always the packaging is great. The applicator that came with it works well and applies the perfect amount of product.
I use the product along with the Chanel Joues Contraste blush in Frivole, which I will review later.
The highlighter has a nice shimmer and it has a pinkish goldish glow, but not so gold that it looks bad on my fair skin. It also lasts for a long time. Below are pictures of the product.

The Chanel packaging is beautiful as always.

The little pouch it comes in with a pocket for the applicator.

And finally the product itself. It has a nice large mirror and a protective disc that covers it (to the right). Right now its not as pretty anymore because I have used it so much.

In conclusion, I really like this product. Sadly it is limited edition. I hope that Chanel will have one that is just as nice next year.
